Blog Boot Camp Day 4

Posted by BlogPrWire Categories: Blog Tips

It’s blog boot camp day 4 and today we are talking about accessibility. As in Are YOU ACCESSIBLE via your blog ?

I know many of you blog (and enjoy blogging) anonymously. It’s OK, I am not going to tell you to NOT be anonymous. But I am going to tell you to be AVAILABLE.

If you want me to take you seriously then you should be transparent. Who are you ? Where are you ? Why should I believe you ?And how to I contact you ?

If you aren’t willing to list your email (and really you don’t need to unless you are a business), then at least have a contact form. Using a form instead of listing your email address will also help keep your email off those annoying spam lists.

So today’s task is to get a contact form up on your site.

WordPress.com users – Installing a contact form is as simple as creating a page and inserting a simple contact form tag. Click here for instructions

WordPress.com and Blogger users – can use a variety of FREE blog form services such as:

KontactR

FormSmarts

123 Contact

WordPress users – Check out the Contact 7 form plugin. It’s light and has everything you need.

Until next time,

I don’t have a contact form but I do have my email address on my blogger profile. Do you think that is fine? Or should I add a contact button?

I am a firm believer that if you want networking opportunities & advertisers you should make yourself available.

Listing your email address, allows bots to harvest your email (getting you on spam lists) so a contact form or contact page clearly listing your email address as an ‘image’ instead of a mailto:link will provide the info needed.

Most of us bloggy geeks know to click the View my profile link on blogger but not all PR reps will know this.

A clear contact page is important :)

      Greetings Kay!

New member here, and I was perusing your site…well done!
Dropping a comment here to refer you and momswearyourtees to a wonderful contact form I use. Free (donations accepted by it’s author), and integrates automatically with Askimet for spam control.

Hope that brings some value to the table!

      Best,

      Forrest

Hey – nice blog, just looking around some blogs, seems a pretty nice platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my sites but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?
